The Guia de Portugal is an impressive database of all things Portuguese, including swimming pools. To use it, go to the section headed by the words Acesso Rápido; in the drop-down menu headed Procure (search), which defaults to Escolha um tema (make a selection); select Piscinas (swimming pools); then, in the field headed by Nome / Onde (name / where), type the name of the city or town you'll be visiting. If the results page comes up with
Resultados
Não foram encontrados resultados para a sua pesquisa. (no items matching your results were found)

erase the name of the town you typed in the Nome / Onde field and use the drop-down box next to the word Concelho (local council) to find a nearby community (or correct for differences in the Engilsh or other language way of writing the city's name in your first search). When you see a gray bar with the words Piscina Lugar Freguesia Concelho Classificação, click on the name(s) below the gray bar for details.
The site is impressive in its scope and the amount of information it has, including seasonal pools and pools too short to list on our site.

Another useful resource is the Roche Emagreça com Saúde/Guia da Boa Forma Web site that lists all sorts of fitness locations, not just swimming pools, throughout the country. Select a province from the list on the page to find the names of communities in that province that the guide has information about; select the name of a community and a list of fitness locations in that community comes up. If you're looking for a swimming pool, click on any facility name that includes the words Piscina or Piscinas for information about the pool(s) there. Although this site's list is less comprehensive than the Guia de Portugal's, it has some listings the first site doesn't have (and vice-versa), and some of the descriptions of the facilities listed are quite detailed and helpful.
