Facility Notes
The pool is filled with salt water from the Mediterranean Sea, emptied, and refilled every two or three days. The hotel's website boasts that it's the largest hotel pool in Tel Aviv. When we used a Google Maps measurement tool to check the length, we came up with about 23m - a nice bonus if accurate and you're expecting only 20m.
Facility Reviews
Very nice. Clean. Lane lines. The water is filtered and may be heated.
The water is cool but not freezing - nowhere near as cold as outdoor pools I used in Europe (usually about 24ºC [75ºF]. Eds.). It is forbidden to swim when there is no lifeguard (seems to be a thing in Israel, as the Hilton Beach is also posted "Swimming Prohibited" since they no longer staff the lifeguard towers at that beach). It closed at 7 PM when I was there. I think it opened at 7 but I'm not sure; people were swimming by 8, I know. It's open continuously during these hours. The water is very clear. There are lane markings, but no lane dividers, and people tend to swim between the lane lines rather on top of them. There is virtually no shade (one edge does get some shade in the morning because of chair umbrellas). The lifeguards are very nice. There is a refreshment stand with fresh juice, smoothies, ice cream, sandwiches, drinks, etc. There is no smoking on the pool deck, but I think people can smoke on the outdoor dining patio of the adjacent restaurant. There is a separate kiddie pool. [September, 2013]
