Facility Notes
Upon paying the admission fee, you will receive what looks like a credit card. Walk up the stairs to enter the main pool area, make a sharp left, walk up another set of stairs to the balcony, and present the card to an employee at the desk. You will receive a wrist band that will operate the turnstile as well as the locker. Press and twist the wristband’s disk onto the locker’s knob to engage the lock. Be sure to remember the locker’s number. When undressing, it is a good idea to use a stall, as there are security cameras in operation. Showers are located at pool level.
Facility Reviews
So pretty, it's on postcards with its sculptures, murals, mosaics and a stained glass window of an octopus.
There are three pools, one used for aqua aerobics classes. A basic swim is 10 zlotys (about US$4 at the moment); lockers are free and guarded. The entry fees buys an hour of swim time, starting on the hour, so try to arrive and be ready as close to the top of the hour to maximize pool time. The pace tends to be relaxed, and even on weekends it's not what a New Yorker would call crowded.

The pool is in a pre-World War II building within walking distance of the old square (Rynek). It is a beautiful facility with a large statue of Neptune overlooking the pool with its vaulted ceiling. The locker room and pool were spotless.

Firstly, if you intend to visit this facility, read the notes above. This is particularly important for non-Polish speakers because all notices are in Polish alone and there are no accompanying pictograms. I didn't, so had to embark on my own voyage of discovery. I could have saved fully ten minutes had I firstly read the notes (which I can confirm remain correct).
This is a spotless facility with long opening hours. The lanes are not speed differentiated, so make a judgment as to where you best fit in. On my early morning visits, there were never more than three swimmers per lane. Good lane discipline; the keep right principle applies.
Oddity number one: The pool that I used (Basen 1: 25 metres) has the greatest distance between the water surface and the pool edge that I've ever encountered - by my reckoning about three feet! Unless you have very long arms and superhuman upper body strength, you'll have to resort to the ladders to get out of the water. Oddity number two: Wroclaw is littered with some 350 tiny bronze gnomes, a reminder of the emblem of the Orange Alternative movement established locally in 1982 as a symbol of opposition to the then Communist administration. Today's gnomes are placed to celebrate the equality, diversity, and inclusion of all citizens. Swimmers will find a bronze gnome just inside the entrance to Basen 1.
