Important Notice Please Read - CLICK HERE

Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the more than 20,000+ facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times; we cannot tell you about the availability and cost of swimming lessons; we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their access policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include email addresses and hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in each listing is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editors become aware of a change but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about three years to complete; in many places, prices will change two or three times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. Please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with your area and visiting for the first time.

To our English users: For reasons described in the FAQ, county names shown the listings in England are the cities' and towns' historic counties, not necessarily the counties they are assigned to now.

Facility Reviews

Swim clubs swim here early mornings (7 - 9 AM) and evenings (6 - 8 PM) weekdays, during which times pool is generally not open to the public. The swim clubs consist mainly of kids and young adults of college age. Swimmers wishing to do swim tryouts with the clubs can tell the reception desk they are going for a tryout, in which case they don't have to pay the drop in fee. The clubs are very welcoming and will let visitors join a few practices for tryouts. However, since they don't use lane ropes, it is best to swim at times when the pool is near empty. The pool is not heated. Locals are averse to "cold" weather (this means weather in 70's F [below 26ºC.] by local standards), so you won't find many swimmers between months of November and March.

The pool was very poorly maintained between 2010 and 2012. They shut it down in September, 2012 for repairs/renovations and it was reopened in summer of 2014. It looks much better now, but I don't trust that they will keep it clean so have not had the courage to try swimming there again. Maintenance issues included not having the chemicals to treat the pool, technical problems, and power cuts. The bathrooms were also very unpleasant, to say it politely- but I hope now they are better.

I visited the Piscine Olympique Dakar last weekend. The water condition was clear, so they are keeping it clean so far. [December, 2014]
