Facility Reviews
This is not a good pool for lap swimming, which is unfortunate for a publicly-funded swimming pool and the only publicly-accessible pool on the Isle of Mull. The water is drastically overheated, at about 90ºF., and the only lap lane is too narrow to share (although there is a separate lane, at least). Between 10:30 and 11:30 AM on a rainy, cold, spring-break Wednesday, the number of people varied. I arrived at a low point and got the lane after standing at the end and watching a kid and someone walking up and down move to the other side of the rope (which was mostly empty). By the time I left, the pool was full of kids and parents; one person was doing laps outside the lane, others were clearly waiting to take my place; and there was a line to get into the pool as people left.
The unisex changing/locker/showering area has communal showers (which are cold), individual changing cubicles, and coin-operated lockers (the coin is returned).
If you can't travel without swimming, come to Mull in August, go wild swimming, and risk hypothermia instead of hyperthermia.
