Facility Notes
The facility, which opened in January, 2017, also has two, NHL-size hockey rinks and a fitness center.
Pool 1 is the Competition Pool. Pool 2 is the Recreation Pool, whose water temperature is usually kept at the higher end of the range shown.
The McKendree Metro Rec Plex also has a Facebook page.
Facility Reviews
This is a brand new facility. The competition pool looks great: 10 lanes, very deep, cold, with continuous gutters. It should be a really fast pool. The program/recreation pool is also nice.
One of the two pools is available for lap swimming at any time the facility is open. Check the calendar on their website ("website", above) if you want to ensure the competition pool is available.
Since the facility is brand new, the locker rooms are pristine (but oddly small), and the pool area looks immaculate. The water is crystal clear and lacks any strong chemical smell.
Kick boards and pull buoys are available but you need to ask the lifeguard for them. The only really odd thing was that there are no pace clocks. Maybe they haven't put them up yet?
The facility likes non-member guests to wear a temporary wrist band while swimming (however they didn't seem to enforce it).
