Facility Reviews
In terms of temperature, the Reading David Lloyd pool is great for serious swimming. When I last measured it, it was 27.5ºC (Spring 2014) though over the winter it seemed to be even cooler. This is probably because the pool is "semi indoors": it is surrounded by brick walls but is covered by a canvas awning which, whilst closed to the elements, leaks heat.
Half the pool is laned - there are three lanes with proper wave suppression barriers between each. On the few occasions that I have swum there in the early mornings there has not been any issue with overcrowding and I have usually enjoyed a lane to myself.
The changing areas are a bit cramped but are in a good state of repair.

From the same reviewer, a year and a half later:
This is one of the least impressive of the David Lloyd clubs.
The pool temperature over the summer has been much warmer than previously reported: 29º - 29.5º C (84.2º - 85.1ºF).
The pool is open-air during the British "summer", which means that the water is usually much warmer than the air and there may be almost as much water blowing about above the pool as there is in it! So be prepared to dash between the change rooms and the pool...
The men's showers are dismal and dilapidated.
