This facility and the Mulhouse Olympic Natation / MON Club share the same street address and are so close together that the Piscine de l'Illberg's location icon on our map search tool covers up the Mulhouse Olympic Natation's icon, unless you zoom in quite closely.
Facility Reviews
A 21st century facility set in a large sports complex a short way from the centre of the town (a 2 km walk or Tram Route 2 to the Palais de Sports stop). This outstanding 50 metre pool opens most weekday mornings at 7:30 AM and remains continuously open until the evening, unlike most swimming facilities in the area. However, do check the facility website for any variations. Eight lanes: one marked 'intensif' (i.e. fast), five marked 'regulier' (i.e. medium), two marked 'occasionel' (i.e. slow). Of the 'regulier' lanes, two were marked for those using bits of kit; the remaining three were for those using arms and legs only! Between 7:30 and 8:30 AM there were barely 25 swimmers in the pool, making for a really enjoyable experience.
At the facility reception desk you will be issued with a chipped bracelet. For casual users, changing is in individual cubicles each with dry and wet side doors. Once you have changed, take your day clothes with you through the wet side door and place them in a locker. Once you have loaded it, the locker is activated by closing the door and pressing the button with the chip on the bracelet. (There is a small amount of storage space pool-side for stuff that you want to keep with you.) After your swim, go through the above process in reverse. Your locker door is opened by once again pressing the button with the chip on your bracelet.
As with all other facilities in Mulhouse, the authorities at Piscine d'Illberg require swimmers to wear a 'maillot de bain sportif' (e.g., Speedos®) and strongly recommend the use of a 'bonnet de bain' (i.e., a swimming cap).
