Facility Reviews
Only six years old, but aging badly.
The main, 25-metre pool is usually shared with swim clubs or teaching sessions, along with double-lane section for general swim, so there are usually only two (medium/fast) or - rarely - three public lanes (slow/medium/fast) available. These are not always signed properly, leading to confusion about direction of swimming. The starting blocks are at the deep end.
The pool area layout is very poorly thought out. Access to the main changing rooms and to and from the pool uses the same corridor, so the floor gets wet and dirty very quickly. Disposable overshoes are provided, but they often run out.
The men's change room has communal areas separated by locker rows but no single cubicles. Many of the lockers (£1 returnable) are broken or jam, once closed. It's advisable to use lockers adapted for padlocks. The women's change area has mixed communal/cubicles with the same locker issues.
Not all poolside showers can be operated at the same time, due to water pressure issues. It can get very crowded when lessons or sessions finish. The changing area showers are marginally better.
