Important Notice Please Read - CLICK HERE

Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the more than 20,000+ facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times; we cannot tell you about the availability and cost of swimming lessons; we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their access policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include email addresses and hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in each listing is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editors become aware of a change but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about three years to complete; in many places, prices will change two or three times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. Please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with your area and visiting for the first time.

To our English users: For reasons described in the FAQ, county names shown the listings in England are the cities' and towns' historic counties, not necessarily the counties they are assigned to now.

Facility Notes

The facility includes several mineral springs fed pools where the water comes up between 30ºC and 34ºC. The main spa pool, whose dimensions we don't know but which appears smaller than the sports pool, is kept at a temperature of 34ºC (93ºF). Prices for the mineral pools, sauna, etc. are significantly higher than for the sports pool described above.

Facility Reviews

People here don't swim straight, fast, or particularly hard. A slow breaststroke is the preferred form of exercise. Swimming across lanes is common, as well. Assume you'll be frustrated.
No lanes marked but the lap swimmers stay in the middle. Breaststroke is favored. The 50m pool in Esslingen is the outdoor NECKAR-Freibad. Best time to swim there is early before the non-serious swimmers show up. The price is the same.
On Thursdays the pool is open until 8 PM and has two lanes set aside for laps. People swam circles when asked to, but split the lanes when there were only two people in a lane. Earlier was better than later, as it got crowded after 5:30 PM - to the point where you really could not swim anymore. The pools' hours and the number of lanes available in the Sportbad can be found HERE

The admission price that includes the mineral bath and steam room (almost double the sport pool only price), also allows you to use the sport pool. The mineral bath is too warm to swim in but not really warm enough to relax and take it easy. The steam room is not that warm and it takes a long time to work up a good sweat. The Jungendstil architecture is interesting.
