Mullingar Swimming Pool

Important Notice Please Read - CLICK HERE

Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the more than 20,000+ facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times; we cannot tell you about the availability and cost of swimming lessons; we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their access policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include email addresses and hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in each listing is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editors become aware of a change but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about three years to complete; in many places, prices will change two or three times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. Please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with your area and visiting for the first time.

To our English users: For reasons described in the FAQ, county names shown the listings in England are the cities' and towns' historic counties, not necessarily the counties they are assigned to now.

Facility Reviews

Adult sessions are not lane sessions, so length swimming can be a little awkward but is encouraged. There is no public swimming on Mondays. The pool is clean and well supervised. Lockers are not provided, baskets are left poolside.
Adult sessions have two lanes down for swimmers who prefer to do lengths; the rest of the pool is free for leisure swimmers. All other public session have one lane down to allow parents to have their swim while their children play.
One lane is open for lap swimming during the Adults & Children sessions. You swim on the left in Ireland - just as you drive. The lane was a bit narrow but it's not a problem if there are few swimmers (as was the case for me). The water seemed a touch warm. There are definitely lockers now; you use a €1 coin as a refundable deposit. There is a communal change room for males/females with individual cubicles for changing. Unofficially, however, it divides into a male and female half based on where the toilets are. There are no showers other than three poolside ones as you enter or leave the changing area. [August, 2014]
A comfortable, clean pool that's too small for its town, so public times are restricted to sessions, but session times are longer than before. Both building and pool are comfortable and warm.
