Facility Notes
The valley where the springs is located is believed to have been home to more than 450 generations of Native American families. It was named Madsen Hot Springs when it was established as a business in 1901. During World War II, it was a rehabilitation center for wounded GIs. Now, more than 100 busloads of tourists arrive every year. The temperatures of the pools at Crystal Hot Springs are maintained by mixing 120º - 134ºF (51º - 57ºC) water from the hot springs with 65º - 75ºF (18º - 24ºC) water from a cold spring that surfaces only 50 feet from the hot spring.
