Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the more than 20,000+ facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times; we cannot tell you about the availability and cost of swimming lessons; we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their access policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include email addresses and hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in each listing is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editors become aware of a change but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about three years to complete; in many places, prices will change two or three times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. Please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with your area and visiting for the first time.

To our English users: For reasons described in the FAQ, county names shown the listings in England are the cities' and towns' historic counties, not necessarily the counties they are assigned to now.

Facility Notes

This is one of those very exclusive clubs that require sponsorship by a current member for a new member to join. It has reciprocity agreements with 180 other, similarly exclusive clubs around the world, e.g., the New York Athletic Club and the Olympic Club in San Francisco. The club has a private hotel, but it is for members, guests sponsored by members, and people who belong to clubs with reciprocity.

Facility Reviews

The pool is what I would call an "old style pool". It is a much smaller space than the New York Athletic Club but, if you can imagine that pool in a much more compact space, lower ceilings, and smaller, you get the picture. You can barely walk around the pool to the opposite end to pick up a pull buoy or whatever.

It is 20 yards long and has four lanes that are roped off from each other. It opens at 6 AM and closes at 10 PM. I think it would be difficult to share a lane, given how narrow the lanes are, even circle-swimming. But circling swimming probably won't ever be a problem, since it just isn't busy. There were three people when I swam at 7 AM and that was considered busy by the staff. The temperature was 82 degrees.

All in all, it's a decent place to swim (in the context of when you are travelling somewhere).
