Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the more than 20,000+ facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times; we cannot tell you about the availability and cost of swimming lessons; we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their access policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include email addresses and hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in each listing is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editors become aware of a change but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about three years to complete; in many places, prices will change two or three times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. Please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with your area and visiting for the first time.

To our English users: For reasons described in the FAQ, county names shown the listings in England are the cities' and towns' historic counties, not necessarily the counties they are assigned to now.

Facility Notes

This is the home pool of long distance swimmer Susie Maroney, who is best known outside of Australia for having swum from Cuba to Florida. She broke a world record for a 24-hour swim in this pool in 1994.
The facility is often referred to as Dick Caine's Carss Park Olympic Pool in honor of its long-time swimming coach.
It must be embarrassing for the local council to have its Community Directory page (website, above) point back to this page (maintained from Raleigh, North Carolina) for authoratitave information about its own pool! Every other council with a pool in the Sydney area has at least one page on its website devoted to the local swimming centre, but not Kogarah!

Facility Reviews

It's outdated and nothing special. The most prestigious and best pool in Sydney is cheaper.
It is special; it's in a beautiful bush location on Kogarah Bay; it's surrounded by colourful and well maintained gardens; the water is always clean; and the pool is very rarely crowded. I drive substantially out of my way to use this facility because it is so special.
Nice and clean it may be but, because of its age, the lanes are narrow, so that can be a challenge if you're not used to it. The change rooms are clean but - if it matters to you - old fashioned. That's OK by me and in that regard it compares well to many other facilities.
Best be there when a squad is not running because it can get a bit squishy.

An ageing pool in the Carss Park which, unfortunately, has all views of the park and bay blocked by opaque plastic windbreaks. The pool water is clear; the facilities, however, are definitely in need of serious repair. At the time I visited, the constant yelling by Caine at the kids spoiled my swim.
