Facility Notes
The pool reopened after renovations in early 2023.
Prior to the energy crisis brought about by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the water temperature of this pool was maintained at 28ºC (82ºF), but by order of the Berlin Senate, the temperatures of pools in Berlin has been reduced to 26ºC as an energy conservation measure. There's more about it HERE.
Facility Reviews
One of the worst options in Berlin. The basin is covered in stainless steel making it an interesting experience, but also very dark, it’s difficult to see where you are going or the walls. It’s also often crowded. There are usually two lap lanes available, but not divided into speeds. Half of the pool is usually taken for lessons.
No better or worse than the usual pool in Germany. At 28ºC., the pool is slightly warmer than average in Berlin. The lanes are wide enough for overtaking.
The pool has been freshly renovated, the sauna costs extra.
Despite the fact that the city senate no longer requires it, the temperature of the water is still only about 25-26ºC. here.
There is zero oversight/guidance by signs nor the lifeguards on lane speed. Even when discussions occur between swimmers about it, the lifeguards do not intervene.
Some sportive swimmers might appreciate the lower temperature, but since there is no designated fast lane, sportive swimming is barely possible, as slower swimmers are left to do whatever they want. I felt a bit unwelcome here because of this.
I suppose their argument would be "go to the SSE pool for that, it's just a bit further", which would be my advice then too, if you want to swim properly.
