Facility Notes
The pool is always divided into four lanes set at different speeds. Floats and pull buoys are available, just ask one of the RLSS qualified lifeguards for assistance and they'll point you in the right direction.
The pool, which is the largest pool in Central London, was built in 1952 and still has the Royal Box (located on the ground floor by Lunchbox Café) which Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother would use when watching the many swimming galas run here. The Beatles used the pool for a photo shoot!
Facility Reviews
The pool is clean and is a good lap swimming temperature - slightly on the warm side but it was a HOT summer day outside. Lane etiquette was good but the four lanes are wide and there were only two people at the most in any lane at any one time - so not busy. It is a basement pool so there's absolutely no daylight. The changing rooms are ok and there are plenty of showers - all working and hot.
A great facility in the centre of London, close to Euston and Kings Cross Station. The pool is really quiet - I swam twice here, at mid afternoon and first thing in the morning, and it was quiet both times. You can use hand paddles, fins, etc., and people follow the lane signs for slow, medium, and fast. There are four lanes and they are wider than normal, so it's easy to pass people, but not so ridiculously wide that you end up swimming twice as far. On the downside, it is a bit warm, I would put it at 29ºC (84ºF), there are no lane markings on the bottom of the pool, and no backstroke flags. It is in the basement of the Student Union and, as its all painted aqua blue (walls, ceiling, pool...), it was quite dark. But hey it's still a great place to swim!

I’ve swum at the pool early mornings for the past few weeks and can confirm the previous reviews.
In my opinion the water is somewhat on the warm side, and you can swim through bubbles of warm and somewhat cooler water as you do your lengths.
Admission or longer-term membership includes gym access.
The pool is closed until mid-August, 2018, for a four week refurbishment to floors and windows.
