Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the more than 20,000+ facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times; we cannot tell you about the availability and cost of swimming lessons; we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their access policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include email addresses and hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in each listing is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editors become aware of a change but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about three years to complete; in many places, prices will change two or three times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. Please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with your area and visiting for the first time.

To our English users: For reasons described in the FAQ, county names shown the listings in England are the cities' and towns' historic counties, not necessarily the counties they are assigned to now.

Facility Reviews

Have been to NZ on holiday and during our time in Auckland this was the nearest pool. It’s an iconic building in an area that is rapidly changing. Excellent water quality and great for laps on Saturday, but quite crowded on the Monday morning with swimming clubs seeming to take over most of the pool. I also bought a hat which the pool publicity leaflet said I needed - but I was the only one wearing one. Anyway a nice souvenir and a bit of a pose at the local baths in England. I really enjoyed both swims; the temperature and water quality were excellent. As ever in NZ lovely staff...

I swam here at lunch time. It's a great venue, built in the early 1900's, but recently modernised. The pool lanes were arranged according to swim speeds from slow to fast. They have disposable towels you can purchase for $5.00, which was good, as I was at a hotel and did not have a towel with me.

Clean water. Good temperature. Masters early weekdays. Wide open on Sunday AM. Very wide lanes. Of course, excellent lane etiquette, as well as staff friendliness. A bit more chlorine than I am used to, but fine over all. Good locker room. No Suitmate®, at least for men.

This is a wonderful pool with a historic outer building outside and a modern swimming facility inside. It has great water quality, wide lanes, and friendly staff and swimmers. It's a short walk from most downtown Auckland hotels. It was uncrowded at 7:00 AM on a Saturday.
