Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the more than 20,000+ facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times; we cannot tell you about the availability and cost of swimming lessons; we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their access policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include email addresses and hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in each listing is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editors become aware of a change but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about three years to complete; in many places, prices will change two or three times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. Please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with your area and visiting for the first time.

To our English users: For reasons described in the FAQ, county names shown the listings in England are the cities' and towns' historic counties, not necessarily the counties they are assigned to now.

Facility Reviews

A lovely pool in an opulent setting, but geared more towards the social than the lap swimmer… There is one lane with the rest left open, I found lap swimming was difficult as there was no sense of swimming down one side and up the other.
Very beautiful, but forget doing laps. The spa is hard to beat.
A classic pool built in 1901 in the Art Nouveau style (Jugendstil) with a lion's head fountain spitting water at the shallow end and a bronze statue at the other. A swim here in one of the two roped off lanes would top off any visit to Munich. It is quite easy to find, being just down river from the Deutsches Museum on the Isar and a short walk from the Isartor U-bahn station. The water temperature was pleasant for lap swimming. Flip turns are difficult in the shallow end but that is made up by the incredible ambiance.

When you pay the admission fee you get a card. Just around from the cashier there is a bank of small lockers for valuables. The card goes into any of the lockers that still have keys with yellow key bands stuck in them. There is a small arrow printed on the card, which goes down. Each locker has a number corresponding to a full locker upstairs in the locker area. Place your valuables in a small locker here; shut the door; remove the key for use in the full-size locker with the same number, upstairs. Red keys are for personal changing cabins, which appear not to be used by the walk-in guests.

There is also a separate, smaller pool with special swim times for women.
