Facility Reviews
A smaller but nice facility located in a neighborhood well away from all the tourist stuff on International Drive.
With the Y closed on Sunday, it was nice to have some choices for a Sunday work out. Dover Shores, and several others in the Orlando area, have 'Adult Fitness' hours, aka lap swimming, daily. Check the schedule through the link provided above--just make sure it is pulling current data--I was getting 2014 schedules at first. Wadeview Pool doesn't open until 11 on Sunday for Adult Fitness, and doesn't appear to put the lane ropes in, or there weren't any when I saw it on my way to Dover Shores, but Dover Shores did. They opened at 10 AM on Sunday and I was the only one there.
The pool has lane ropes, stripes, and end-of-lane targets. And it was clean. There are no real changing or locker rooms on site, but the bathrooms served the purpose. It's only 3 feet deep at the shallow end and, being outdoors in central Florida, the water can be very warm, I estimate it was 85º or 86º, as that's the temperature where I have to take my cap off - and it came off early for this work out. As usual in Florida, keep a weather eye, if you're outdoors and it rumbles thunder, they shut down for 30 minutes.

I agree with the first review except the pool was cooler, most likely 82º -83ºF (28ºC), and better for lap swimming. I talked with the guard and he indicated it used to be the warm pool and is now more reasonable. Good staff; winter weekend hours are limited to 10 AM to noon.
