Facility Reviews
This is a twenty minute walk from the town centre. The facility is clearly not new but in perfectly good condition. The water is at a nice temperature for swimming lengths and not heavily chlorinated. There are separate male and female changing rooms.
In these COVID times, you need to book in advance. The website does not work for non-members, so if you want a casual swim you have to phone (01873 735360) where they will take a booking. But be quick; you can only book two days in advance and there are only eight places in each 45 minute session. For my swim at 12.30 on Friday I had to phone at 8 AM on Wednesday. On arrival ten minutes before the session, I was ticked off the list and allowed in. The swim cost £3.95.
The lockers are out of use but still accessible. The showers are out of use. The instruction to come already changed is not enforced. Once changed, you queue at the far end of the changing room until the shutters keeping you from the pool are lifted. The pool is divided into four lanes. At each end of each lane, there is a plastic seat with a float and a pull-buoy under it. You put the things you didn't leave unsecured in the changing room on a chair and use the relevant lane, keeping to one side both out and back while the occupant of the chair at the other end will do the same. Chatting is not encouraged. The drinks machine has been emptied.
