Facility Reviews
Photographs really do not do this place justice. The setting is extraordinary, with steep fjord walls on either side bedecked with braided waterfalls. I paid ISK 900, which included a lockable locker. Shoes off before entering the locker room! Shower nude, scrubbing all of the public-health-important parts of your body – see diagram in shower – with soap and hot water. The 25 meter pool is somewhat shallow at the shallow end and can be divided into four lanes, although at the time of my visit it was only divided into two narrow and one wide. A waterslide in spirals adorns a smaller children’s pool and there are two or three smaller soaking tubs at higher temperatures than the lap pool. No swim cap is required. Unlike many pools in Iceland, this one has backstroke flags. At the bottom of the pool there is the unavoidable windblown volcanic grit, but the water is crystal clear and exceptionally clean.
