Important Notice Please Read

Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times or when Senior Aerobics classes are held; we cannot tell you about the availability or cost of swimming lessons; we cannot get you discounted admission to swim at any of them; and we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their admission policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites and Facebook pages, clickable email addresses, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in the site is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editor becomes aware of a change, but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about seven years to complete; in many places, prices will change four or five times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. (No, it's not a place for you to ask us questions. What we have in each listing is the latest news we have.)

Also, please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with the area and visiting for the first time. Just go to the Add a Pool section of the site, read the first page, then fill out the questionnaire.

Facility Notes

Long course swimming year-round in the competition pool. Short course all day in the "recreation" pool. Lane availability and times are shown on its website ("website", above).
Kick boards and pull buoys are available.
There are also two spa/Jacuzzis®, a weight-room with the standard machines and bar-bell selection, and a separate 91ºF (33ºC) therapy pool.
Last minute schedule changes are often posted on the center's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/TheRBAC and Twitter account at https://twitter.com/RBAC_updates.
With the post-COVID price increases, if you're expecting to swim here more than five times in a month, purchasing a monthly pass for $76.00 makes financial sense. [April, 2022]
From the center's website:
"Lanes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
"Please note lap swimming lane availability varies daily, based upon scheduled programming and events. During peak times, generally 3 – 9 pm Monday – Friday, lap swim lane availability is limited."

Facility Reviews

A good venue but expensive.
The RBAC is hands down the best deal in Southern California, balancing price and facilities.
A really great pool.
I think it's too expensive. The facility has not been well maintained and it shows.
This facility is the best I ever swam a lap in! The locker rooms are excellent. Showers are excellent. The pool itself is a dream. The staff is helpful and efficient.
What a treat to swim outdoors and to be able to choose between long course meters and short course yards! It is an older facility, but the water is clean and clear. And to be able to dry off on the deck in the sun after a swim is an added bonus!
[March, 2014]
Pro: Open long hours, long course, good showers, friendly swimmers, chemistry in the competition pool is kind to skin and hair, ample parking, equipment available. Reasonably consistent 80ºF. (27ºC.) in the competition pool.

Con: Not the cleanest; you will be swimming with dust bunnies composed of hair, leaves, Band-Aids®, and random garbage bits. Often crowded. Lockers are old and rusting out, locker room cleanliness level reflects high traffic. Expensive. Hot tubs are so strongly chlorinated that they give me a headache, which has never happened anywhere else.

It's surprising that this is the best the area can do. If they took cleaning more seriously (both pool and locker room), it would be a fantastic facility - but with no other viable outdoor pools around, I guess they don't need to try hard.
[January, 2015]
The 50m x 25y pool is the "competition pool". It's used by the swim teams and lap swimmers. It is typically much cleaner (very clear water, good pH balance) and long-course (50m lanes) is usually available year-round.

The 25y x 50m pool is the "recreation pool". It's almost always short-course (25y lanes) to allow for simultaneous multiple uses: swimming lessons, recreation swimmers, and the diving team. Because of the heavy recreational traffic, this pool tends to be much dirtier.

In the last year or so, the locker rooms were completely - and nicely - redone.
