Facility Reviews
The Jayhawk Club is a fabulous facility, surrounded by 27 beautiful holes of golf with rolling terrain. The Wellness Center is one building (of many) at the Club. The Center contains state-of-the-art equipment (Technogym). It is a two-story building with cardio and locker rooms on the first floor. The lower level contains a weight room and pool. The pool room is all glass on the east side looking out over the golf course and pond. The other three sides of the pool room are surfaced with limestone.
While the Wellness Center utilizes the highest quality of equipment, the opposite is true of the four-lane pool. There are very few water drains and the lane lines are pathetic. The rudimentary lane 'separators' are ropes with intermittent Styrofoam floats that move up and down the ropes as the day progresses. They do nothing to dissipate turbulence. I haven't seen lane lines like this since attending summer camp on a lake in the 1950s. Think "Camp Run-A-Muck". As a result, the water is very choppy and turbulent, even with only two swimmers in the water. On the plus side, the enclosed pool room is very warm in the winter and the pool temperate is consistently maintained at a comfortable 82ºF. Immediately outside the pool room are two private showers/restrooms.
