Facility Notes
The facility was designed in the 1960s in the tradition of renowned French architect, Le Corbusier. The Stade Nautique d’Avignon was declared a heritage building to preserve it as a stunning example of 20th century architecture.
There is also a 15m x 15m diving pool with 3m, 5m, 7.5m, and 10m diving platforms.
The 25m, 8 lane, outdoor pool that appears in the Google Maps satellite view photographs appears to have been converted to a leisure pool in the renovations that led to the facility's reopening in 2019.
Facility Reviews
This is a nice pool, with good attendance on the morning of December 24th. There were four lanes set up with ropes, though not of the „wave breaker“ type, unfortunately. The water was 27ºC; so I had a good swim.
The lockers operate with a code system.
The pool is at the St. Chamand tram stop, the end of the line of the one and only tram line in Avignon (the stop is on the opposite side of the street, you can't miss the pool). It's just 15 minutes from the central railway station, which is just outside the city walls.
