Facility Notes
This was the site of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games swimming events. Originally built as an indoor/outdoor pool, it was fully enclosed in 2003 and a multi-purpose floor was built above the pool. The diving well is used for laps when swim teams are using the 50m pool.
In March 2016 the Aquatic Center was re-named in honor of the late Georgia Tech swimming coach and physical training professor, Coach Herb McAuley. The pool hosted the 2016 and 2022 NCAA Swim and Dive Championships and was named the #1 Collegiate Aquatic Facility in the country.
Facility Reviews
This is an excellent facility – but you need your own lock for the minimal locker rooms. Towels available.
This is a great facility. There is a coach on deck Mon., Wed., and Fri. at noon, but not that many people so you end up doing the workout by yourself. If you use the aquatic locker room, there are larger lockers (i.e., good for a brief case). They have locks for sale for $6.

Clean and tidy locker rooms. I was there around noon on a weekday and the pool was almost abandoned.
