Important Notice Please Read

Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times or when Senior Aerobics classes are held; we cannot tell you about the availability or cost of swimming lessons; we cannot get you discounted admission to swim at any of them; and we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their admission policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites and Facebook pages, clickable email addresses, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in the site is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editor becomes aware of a change, but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about seven years to complete; in many places, prices will change four or five times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. (No, it's not a place for you to ask us questions. What we have in each listing is the latest news we have.)

Also, please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with the area and visiting for the first time. Just go to the Add a Pool section of the site, read the first page, then fill out the questionnaire.

Facility Notes

In addition to the pools described above, there is a 1-foot deep wading pool, and a 33ºC (91ºF) relaxation pool. At the diving pool, there are also 0.5m and 1.5m diving boards and diving platforms for instructional purposes.
The facility was closed in 2014 for a $60,000,000 renovation. The renovation was undertaken to create a state-of-the-art sports centre to house eight Olympic sports (Swimming, Diving, Synchronized Swimming, Women's Water Polo, Fencing, Gymnastics, Short Track Speed Skating, and Judo). The renovations included a complete re-tiling of the deck, new lighting, new furniture (benches, etc.), a new weight room, cafeteria etc., etc. It reopened in late May, 2015.

Facility Reviews

After its 2014 - 2015 renovation, the pool is still totally up-to-date in 2019, with sparkling clean water, a beautiful space, and excellent facilities. The temperature was around 80º when I visited, and the competition pool was set with 25m lanes: three speed-segregated lanes in the shallower area, several more lanes moving toward the deeper end, and an open area (about 5 lanes wide) at the deepest end of the pool. There is also a training pool which is sometimes open for lap swimming, and a diving pool (with boards/platforms up to 10m). I had a lane to myself at noon on a Thursday. Huge sex-segregated locker/shower/toilet rooms (which cannot be assumed in Montreal pool facilities). There are kickboards but no pull buoys pool-side.

This is a beautiful facility: Spacious, bright, and very clean. It's almost never crowded. The water is not over-chlorinated and there is excellent wave dissipation. The smaller training pool is almost always used for long-course swimming; the competition pool (1976 Olympics) is usually configured for 25m lanes.

There are spacious locker areas with saunas and suit drying machines. Some lockers have self-setting combinations, otherwise bring your own lock. There's also a nice shop that sells suits, kickboards, pull-buoys, etc. Be sure to check website before you go, as the pools can be closed for competitions.

You can park in the Viau (P7) Parking Lot for up to four hours for $5.00, if you get your ticket validated outside the locker rooms. (See: PARKING LOT). It's also an easy walk from the Viau (closest) or Pie-IX Metro station (next closest).

The concierge at my hotel kept pointing me to club pools but a local suggested the Olympic Park. It was an amazing experience and I loved the pool. It was configured for short course and I had a lane to myself. Beautiful!
