Facility Reviews
This facility is beside the Glaxo Smith Kline compound, a good walk from the town centre. The online booking system defeated me but I managed to obtain a Thrive leisure card and reception was helpful in booking a slot for later the same morning when I phoned.
Arriving ten minutes early I was greeted by name and invited to wait outside until the hour. Reception provided the card which is free and accepted £2.80 for my over-60 entry. I was personally guided to the poolside where a numbered chair received my clothes and things - you are expected to come ready to swim. The six lane pool has been divided into two and, as there were only two swimmers, we had half the pool each. The shallow end of the pool is only 0.6 metres deep. Backstroke is not allowed during Covid. The numbers on our chairs correspond to family changing rooms and we are guided to the back door of the facility at the end of a fairly surreal hour.
