Facility Reviews
Post-refurbishment, the pool's operation is a massive disappointment:
It is almost impossible to find a "proper" lane swim time slot.
There are no early morning swims on any day.
During the mid-day fitness swim there are often only three lanes used, rather than five, which would utilise the entire width of the pool.
In those three lanes, there is complete disregard for the fast, medium and slow markings and the lifeguards don't seem to care about placing swimmers in a lane according to their swimming ability, which I believe is part of their job.
It's the same during the evening fitness swim, which is only on three nights per week.
On top of all that, the music is impossibly loud and completely unsuitable for the environment (think Capital Radio in a "rave" mode or worse).
The showers are too hot and on a five-second timer.
Pool hygiene is ignored by most - no one is asked to take a shower before entering the pool.
It's so bad that I actually stopped swimming for the first time in about 25 years and started to jog instead. Much less frustrating.
Sorry to be so negative...
