Facility Notes
Facility Reviews
Good facility - clean, good showers, not drafty. Two lanes with ropes (one for circle-swim laps, one for lessons, etc.) and four or five without. Crowded at times, but it was possible to swim laps.
Clean and (fairly) quiet. More of a health club with a nice pool. Attendants and guards were very cordial. Flip-turns were not possible during lap swim times
Almost always too crowded. They apparently tailor their hours for school children, which is unfortunate, because otherwise it's a very nice facility.
The facility is located underneath the Marché Couvert – the old marketplace (which has since been replaced by high-end stores) near Blvd. Saint Germain and is convenient to both the 5th and 6th Arrondissements.
When you arrive, scan the ticket at the turnstile. After the turnstile there are benches where swimmers must remove their shoes before entering the changing area. Take an orange hanger on the counter to the left and bring it to a private changing booth, where you change into your swim suit. Place the orange band that corresponds to the number on the hanger onto your wrist or ankle. Hand the hanger with your belongings to the attendant. (I had my wallet and cell phone in my hanger, and nothing was touched.) Descend the stairs to the co-ed showers where swim suits remain on. Swim.
The pool is immaculate. One lane is reserved for instruction, three lanes for specific swim styles (in French and English), and one wide lane for free swimming. No speeds are designated. If I timed it right, I was able to sprint between swimmers but it took patience.
