Facility Notes
Swimming in the pool described above is swim suit optional, so men and women swim on alternate days. (Swim suits have been allowed only since 2001.) There's a smaller, bathing suits-required pool open to all. See the schedule on the "website" link, above.
The pool was built in 1928 and is decorated like a Roman Spa; it was completely renovated and reopened in October of 1999. Word has it the place is really "posh".
The pool was closed from May 29 through August 28, 2016. This was probably an annual, recurring closure.
Facility Reviews
The entrance fee is for the lockers on the lower floor; a curtained-off room on the terrace overlooking the pool can be had for just a little more. It's very swank. There is also a sauna. But, while the clientele when you are there are always same sex, the life guards are always women.
One lane is reserved for lap swimmers here. The water is very clean!
It’s not so good for lap swimmers; it’s gentlemanly swimming up and down, at a slow pace.
This is a wonderful place to swim downtown. Since it's nude swimming, be mindful and check online as to what days are for men and for women - they do not swim together. It's not ideal for lap swimming, as there is usually only a large lane or two for lap swimming; sharing the lane with several people is the norm. But the place is amazing, clean, and with multiple saunas. The upstairs has a terrace that surrounds the pool with private, curtained-off cabana rooms. If you are a swimmer, it's a must visit in Helsinki.
