Important Notice Please Read

Swimmers Guide is not connected with any of the facilities listed on this site in any way. We cannot tell you the pools’ opening and closing times or when Senior Aerobics classes are held; we cannot tell you about the availability or cost of swimming lessons; we cannot get you discounted admission to swim at any of them; and we cannot help you find your children’s lost goggles or bathing suits.

We can and do try to give you reliable information about the pools, their locations, their admission policies, and their single-visit or casual swimming prices. Where possible, we include hypertext links to the pools’ own official websites and Facebook pages, clickable email addresses, and links to the websites of the clubs and teams that swim there. Look to those resources within each listing for more detailed information.

The data in the site is under continual review and is revised whenever the site’s editor becomes aware of a change, but, with more than 20,000 listings, a complete, periodic review of every listing takes about seven years to complete; in many places, prices will change four or five times before we have a chance to check the pool’s official website again.

For that reason, we ask for your help: If any of the information in the listing is incorrect, out of date, or could be improved, please tell us. There is an "Edit" button on just about every line of every listing, click on the edit button to tell us what needs to be changed. (No, it's not a place for you to ask us questions. What we have in each listing is the latest news we have.)

Also, please consider checking the listings of the pools you regularly use at home or when traveling, as your knowledge may be helpful to someone else who is unfamiliar with the area and visiting for the first time. Just go to the Add a Pool section of the site, read the first page, then fill out the questionnaire.

Facility Notes

The 50-metre pool was formerly open only from May to October but, based on the December, 2023 review, below, we have moved it up to the "Full-Size, Year-Round" section, as opposed to this "Facility Notes" section, to which it had been relegated before.
The centre reopened in May, 2015, after an £8 million refurbishment.

Facility Reviews

The outdoor pool is a hidden gem. Unless the weather is VERY sunny, the pool is rarely crowded. Now under new management they have great plans for the future.
[August, 2013]
The outdoor pool is quite nice although shallow, making it hard to do flip turns. But it has very wide lanes, which makes it easy to pass, when needed. The facility has two tiers. The bare bones price (£4.60 for the outdoor pool) gives you access to the outdoor pool and showers and lockers, and an indoor locker room with slightly dingy lockers and the kind of open-room showers that have a single button that releases about 20 or 30 seconds of water. More money gets you access to a different locker room with private showers and more control over the showers' heat and water flow. In all cases, you need to bring your own towel. The lockers require a £1.00 coin to release the key; the pound is returned when you return the key.
[August, 2015]
The 50-meter, outside lido was open on a grey overcast Christmas Day. The air temperature was 10ºC (50F), the water 22ºC (72F). The pool's five, wide lanes made it easy to pass.

In the drizzle, a cohort comprised mostly of breaststrokers were all marveling at how warm it was; perfect English swimming conditions! A charming moment on an otherwise gloomy winter day.
[December, 2023]
Management is struggling to hire enough lifeguards and, as a result, they regularly boot everyone out of the pool to allow the lifeguard(s) to have a 15-minute break. This is not good if you are trying to do a long set. This wonderful asset (a 50m lido surrounded by grass) has been managed so badly that it will revert to Haringey Council in November, 2024.
