Facility Notes
The 50 meter pool is called the Georg-Miesgang-Hallenbad. It is one of several pools at this facility, which includes an adventure pool, a brine pool, a diving pool, and a paddling pool.
Summertime visitors to Burghausen may wish to experience the Wöhrseebad about which a regular correspondent wrote: "There is a summer swimming area beneath the old castle/fortress and one can swim 1km straight and still have the fortress in view. It is the longest such fortress in the world. There is a public swim area for €2.50 and a bit further down you can just jump in for free. But there are no lockers or change area." See it on a Map HERE.
A more conventional outdoor, seasonal, 50 metre, 8 lane, outdoor pool is located just 150 metres from the ErlebnisBadewelt Burghausen / Georg-Miesgang-Hallenbad. It's the Freibad Burghausen.
Facility Reviews
I highly recommend the Georg-Miesgang-Hallenbad - there are always two lanes set aside for lap swimming (50m) and they are clearly marked for lap swimming only. The swimmers here know how to circle-swim and the lanes are open for lap swimming all day, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Additionally, after your workout you can relax in the sauna, steam room, or outdoor warm salt water pool and allow the high-pressure water jets to massage your tired muscles. There is also a restaurant in the wellness area.
