Facility Notes
There is also a 33m, 5 lane, outdoor, unheated, seasonal pool at this location; it's open from mid-October to late April.
In 2020, the local council approved the construction of a new swimming pool complex adjacent to this facility. When the new facility is complete, this one will be demolished and the property redeveloped. See a news story about it HERE. If you zoom-in on the Targeted Google Maps link, above, you can see the new facility well under construction.
Facility Reviews
I liked the building design, with side walls that fold away in nice weather, allowing fresh air like an outdoor pool, even though swimmers are still protected from Gisborne’s often intense sun. Be sure to bring a couple of 20-cent coins, as you will need them for a hot shower (cold showers are free).

Just a heads up to avoid this pool around New Year, when the annual Rhythm and Vines concert is on, as the young party goers come to the pool for a cheap shower and time out.
