Facility Notes
A medical check is required to use the pool and a deep swim card is required for the 50m pool. The onsite medical check is cursory and costs RMB 10. To get the swim card (including photo) is another RMB 20; if you bring your own 20mm x 30mm photo, it may speed things up. The swim test for the card, valid throughout Beijing, is a nonstop swim of between 100m and 400m, depending on who's giving it. The formalities can be completed quickly enough to allow a swim during the same visit. [Costs as of September, 2013]
Facility Reviews
A big pool… well used… LOTS of breaststrokers, not always aware of the concept of circle swimming. Worth a visit if only for the cultural experience.
Dank, dark, very old. Not the new Olympic one. The main pool is nice - no backstroke flags or time clocks, but huge and devoted to laps. Be prepared for crowded conditions unless you go in the morning or late night.
Best pool in Beijing. Huge, not crowded, lanes very wide. Substantially warmer than all other pools, metallic taste.
