Facility Notes
Pool 1 is the "Hoppin' Jacks Pool" (you can see the Hoppin' Jacks marker on Google Maps). Pool 2 is the "Spa Pool"; it can be seen one block north of Hoppin' Jacks next to the large building with the "Sprouts" restaurant marker on Google Maps.
The Hoppin' Jacks pool is available to hotel guests only. The Spa pool is accessible to both hotel guests and non-guests.
Facility Reviews
The Spa pool is one of my favorites - never crowded, plush amenities, and a beautiful setting overlooking the mountains and desert. The Hoppin' Jacks pool is a huge pool at the center of the resort; its two, 25-yard lanes are marked off so you don't have to deal with kids and others getting in your lanes.
This is one of the best resorts for lap swimming because you have a choice of two great pools, both with beautiful settings. The rest of the resort is great too!
The 'Hoppin Jacks' pool has two lanes, striped with targets, but no lane line except for the one that separates the two lane section from the rest of the pool. Except for early morning, from 6 to 9 AM, or evenings, after 5 PM, these lanes becomes the 'adult' part of the pool with a lot folks wallowing and escaping the heat. It would be difficult to swim laps then.
This pool does not seem to have a chiller to maintain temperature, so during a 3-4 day run of high 90's in late April, it got really warm, I estimate about 85ºF (29ºC), and was unpleasant to work out in during the evening; it was a degree or so better in the early morning. God help you in August!
The Spa pool is striped, but has no targets, with nice lane ropes separating the three lanes. As nice a setting as it is, the deck is small and there are lounge chairs right up against the ends of the pool. If you do aggressive flip turns, warn the guests sitting there or else go in the early morning. Hotel guests can use the Spa Fitness Center free, but access to the Spa pool is a $35/day use fee.
