It's a nice pool and a decent locker room. They keep three, wide lanes open all the time for lap swimmers. It can easily accommodate six swimmers. Just a 15 min walk from the heart of the French Quarter.

This city-owned facility is a nice place to swim. They keep three lanes open for lap swimming at all times. A local said that mid-day he almost never has to share a lane and has never had to swim in circles. He also said to be sure to check the schedule because on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between noon and 1:30 PM they close the pool for cleaning. The cleanliness is about average for a municipal pool.
Bring your own towel and lock. My standard Master Lock was too big to fit through the hasps on the lockers, so a smaller lock is needed. They would not let me leave my clothes on the pool deck, but a friendly member of the staff loaned me a personal lock.
A word of caution: New Orleans neighborhoods are spotty. One block is perfectly safe and the next is not. The other side of Rampart Street from the French Quarter used to be a “no-go” zone for non-locals, so I asked the concierge at the hotel if I should walk there and they told me to take a taxi and definitely not to walk there after dark.

It's a nice pool. I went on a Friday around 10 AM; there was an open lane and continued to be that way for the whole swim. The water was a good temperature and clean. The shallow end is only 3-feet deep, a little too shallow for flip turns (for me anyway). The other reviews are accurate, bring a small lock for the locker room, which was also very nice. I felt safe in the area, but it's a 'developing' area. A free public pool is great!

The pool is on the warm side, but totally fine for a workout. The staff is nice and the open hours are extensive. Although the signs said no bags on deck, the lifeguards were accommodating.
