Facility Notes
The facility is open to the public by appointment only. This is a swim school so you have to book a 45 min 'session' in advance, which may put you with other folks who are getting a training and coaching session (not competitive). You should get your own lane, but do offer to share. You are effectively renting a lane here.
Facility Reviews
Nice pool. Competition ropes (a little dated but they're there), all tile, and with lines and targets. There is also a smaller, ~15m pool, which is striped but has no lane lines, and a therapy pool. You have to make a reservation and you're usually swimming with a class, but the worst is you should share a lane with one person, and no one wanted to swim with me, although I was more than willing to split the lane. The only drawback is that it was a tad warm, maybe 83º -85ºF., and the price is steep. Sessions are 45 minutes and cost R$65, about US$30 including VAT at current exchange rates. They take only cash or debit cards. Very friendly staff with very limited English. Spanish works with lots of gestures and smiling. It's a 15 minute walk through a reasonable business/residential area from the two hotels in Alphaville (Comfort Suites and Radisson). They have boards and buoys, and these neat abacus things that the students use to count their laps! Nice, if dated, lockers and showers. As far as I could determine anyone can make an appointment on a space available basis and they seem to have space in the early AM and after 7 PM. Beats not swimming!
