Every listing includes:

• The name and address of the pool or facility;
• The area or city code and telephone number for inquiries about hours, rates, schedules, and programs;
• A description of the pool(s) there - always with length and indoor or outdoor location, often with water temperature and number of lanes or width;
• Admission information, including (where available) drop-in prices and discounts for members of affiliated groups and facilities, for senior citizens, and for guests registered at nearby hotels.

Many listings also include:

• A key-word summary of the aquatic programs and activities regularly offered or available at the pool;
• Directions and/or links to street address-specific maps to help find the pool ( 10,689 map links, alone);
• Descriptions of its board and platform diving facilities;
• Contact information for Masters and youth swim clubs and competitive diving, water polo and synchronized swimming teams that train at the pool;
• Links to the facilities' and teams' own Web pages - 15,611 of them, more swimming links than any other Web site!

An increasing number of listings have:

• Reviews of the pools (favorable and not-so), sent by people who've swum there - including a few bouquets and brickbats by the site editors ( 3,513 );
• Clickable email mail addresses for the facilities or the organizations/companies that operate the pools ( 3,491 ).

There's also a section called "ADD A POOL" where you can send information for additions to the database.

WHY DOES THIS WEB SITE EXIST?

In our many years of traveling, we were never able to find a single, half-decent, half-way reliable resource for finding pools away from home. (Or near home, either, for that matter.) So we've set out to be something of a Yahoo! of swimming pools. In our spare time, we search the 'Net for information about places to swim around the world, catalog what we find, add it to the database, and share it with the world.

Taking whatever we can find on the 'Net, together with what other swimmers have sent us, we've compiled the most comprehensive pool-finding resource ever created. Does that sound boastful? In a word: "Yes"; but it's also absolutely true!

HOW YOU CAN HELP

If we've missed a qualifying facility you know about, tell us about it so we can include it in the next update. See the Add A Pool section for what we need and how you can get it to us.

If the information in an existing listing is not current, could be clearer or needs some amplification - send us a note to suggest changes. We've put e-mail links at the bottom of every page on this site - please feel free to use them. We try to reply to reply to every e-mail message we receive.

If you write to us, and we hope you will, your e-mail address will never be revealed to anyone else, unless you ask that it be included as a contact in a listing.

PRIVACY POLICY

Nobody hates junk mail (in any form) more than we do, and we doubt that there are many people who object to the techniques of some Web site promoters to collect information about their site visitors more than we. So here's our commitment to you:

If you write to us, neither your identity nor your e-mail address will ever be revealed to anyone else, unless you specifically request it. We do save the e-mail addresses of our correspondents, but only for personal communications on a computer that is protected behind a firewall. That computer is not connected to the server that hosts the site.

While we do everything we can to ensure that your privacy is protected while visiting our site, we include more than 26,000 hypertext links to other sites - those of the facilities we list, various aquatic sports clubs, several commercial map sites, and many other Internet resources that we think may be helpful. We have not investigated the privacy policies of those sites, most of which will be far less favorable than our own.

When you place your mouse over a hypertext link on any of our pages, you can tell where the link goes by looking at the bottom bar of your Web browser. If the "target" URL begins with "http://www.SwimmersGuide.com/", you will know that you're going to a page within our site that's covered by our privacy policy. If it shows anything other than that, the link belongs to someone else and you're on your own.
