Facility Reviews
This is a new facility and less crowded than many of the other public pools on Hong Kong Island. The main pool is divided into lanes for lap swimming and a free swimming area. Some of the lanes are used for coaching and squads, but there are always two lanes for public swimming. The best time to go is late in the evening when it's less crowded.

Water temperatures can climb to 86ºF (30ºC) or more in the winter, when it's filled with people doing geriatric breaststroke. Difficult for serious laps.

I went on a Wednesday in May, as both Morrison Hill and Kowloon Park (indoor pool) were on their annual, seven-week shutdown. Arriving at 8:20 PM, the pool was pretty much unswimmable due to overcrowding with ultra-slow, almost non-swimmers in the two lap lanes. Kick boards are prohibited, as always, in Hong Kong. Avoid.

We swam late morning on a Wednesday in October and at 8:30 AM on the following Saturday. The number of lap lanes varied between two and three. As others have reported, there was no sorting by pace; there were slow breaststrokers in every lane. When there were only two or three others, it wasn't too bad, otherwise, the continuous passing was tiring. Also, lane lines are NOT turbulence-reducing, so waves from the busy 10 lane pool were everywhere. The facility is very nice and staff helpful. Be careful to check the website for closings, as there are weekly shutdowns for maintenance and frequent “school festivals”.
