Facility Reviews
This is a brand-new facility that has won architectural awards.
When I visited, three 50m lanes were available and two of the 50m lanes had a 25m dividing wall that created a 25m lane for water walking and a 25m lane for swimming. (The rest of the lanes were used for youth team practice and lessons). The 25m pool, which is part of the diving basin, was closed. Pull buoys and kickboards were available. The water temperature is perfect - not hot as is generally the case with pools in Japan.
When you enter the facility, purchase a ticket from the machine - staff can help. Show your ticket before entering the locker area to get a bracelet that will hold your locker key while you swim. To lock the locker--insert your ticket, which allows the key to turn. There is a swimsuit spinner available. Be sure to show your ticket on the way out - you will pay a supplement if you stay longer than two hours. The pool observes the standard, Japanese hourly breaks when all lap swimmers must exit the pool for ten minutes.
The facility is located on the outskirts of Utsunomiya. The parking lot offers first two hours for ¥300.
It's a beautiful facility!
